“If we are all insane, then sanity becomes a matter of degree.”

For
those who like; to watch horror movies, listen to ghost stories, and even dare
to go to haunted places or events, others will wonder if that behavior is either somewhat sane
or in the border of insanity. However, what if maybe those who crave such dark
things are more in touch with the reality of this world and even themselves? Besides, the world
does not completely consist of peace, security, and tranquility. The
world is also tainted with danger, terror, and violence….and lets not fool ourselves we're not completely innocent little angels either. As king puts it, dark things as such “ deliberately appeals to all that is worst in us.”
The way horror movies are produced now, most of the audience can infer what will happen. Fear is lost because of predictability. I'm a huge fan of horror movies and yes I may be disappointed as how some movies are but yet I'm still interested to watch them. And reason being could be that fear is one of the strongest emotions to feel. Another strong emotion would be love but as well love has hidden fears - for example the question "what if?". This question could bring up a state of mind of unpredictability and shake up a relationship and startle other events going on with our lives.
King explains that when we are interested with such dark and bothersome things the reason could be to prove or “To show that we can [go trough such things and prove] that we are not afraid”. So when we are watching a horror movie, listening to scary story, or playing a violent game we are subconsciously seeking to feel something, perhaps a beat of our hearts to know we are alive (wink face). Or in other matters we want to predict so our own fear does not build up against us. When something is uncertain and don't have any kind of familiarization that is when we are terrified. And I and as many others may as well find interest on such things to test and strengthen our courage, heighten our predictability so we can apply it to real live events, and seek some amusement from it.
